This Privacy Policy explains how String School collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use our websites, portals, booking tools, lesson-management features, practice tools, and related services. String School is the legal entity responsible for this policy.

Information We Collect

We may collect information you provide directly, including name, email address, phone number, account credentials, student or family contact details, lesson notes, scheduling details, practice activity, song or resource records, billing-related records, public signup information, booking requests, and messages submitted through forms.

We may also collect technical information automatically, such as browser type, device information, IP address, pages visited, feature usage, authentication events, diagnostic logs, and cookie or similar-technology data. We use Supabase for authentication and database services, Vercel for hosting and performance analytics, and may use Google Analytics or similar analytics services to understand product usage and improve the service.

How We Use Information

We use information to provide and secure the service, create and manage accounts, support teachers, students, family members, and studios, schedule lessons, deliver practice and learning tools, manage resources and invoices, process signup and booking requests, troubleshoot issues, improve the product, and comply with legal obligations.

Students and Children

String School may be used by music students, including minors, under the direction of a teacher, studio, parent, guardian, or authorized family contact. Adults responsible for a student should only provide information they are authorized to share. If you believe a child’s information was provided without proper authorization, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.

Payments and Purchases

String School may display invoices, payment status, product entitlements, and purchase-related records. Unless otherwise stated in the payment flow, payments are handled outside the app or by third-party payment providers. Do not send full payment card numbers through lesson notes, resource comments, support messages, or other free-text fields.

Sharing and Service Providers

We may share information with service providers who help us operate the app, including hosting, authentication, database, storage, email, analytics, and payment-related services. Teachers, studios, students, and family members may see information according to their role and permissions. We do not sell personal information.

Cookies and Analytics

String School and our service providers may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, secure the service, remember preferences, measure site performance, and understand how people use public pages and app features. Analytics providers, including Vercel Analytics and Google Analytics if enabled, may collect usage data such as page views, device/browser information, approximate location derived from IP address, and interaction events.

Data Retention

We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain account and lesson records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with legal obligations. Some records may remain in backups or audit logs for a limited period after deletion from active systems.

Your Choices

You may request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of personal information, subject to account ownership, studio recordkeeping needs, and legal requirements. You can also ask to disable an account or stop certain communications.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so please use strong passwords and keep login credentials private.

International Use

String School is operated from the United States. If you use the service from another location, your information may be processed in the United States or other locations where our service providers operate.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
